Somewhere between memory and imagination, that’s where I paint. I’m Jennet Annayeva — a watercolour artist shaped by the vibrant contradictions of my heritage. Half Ukrainian, half Turkmen, I grew up in Odessa, surrounded by the sea’s restless blues and the warmth of southern light. Now based in London, I carry these impressions with me, letting them seep into my work.
The female form is at the heart of my paintings — not as a symbol, but as a feeling. My watercolours are less about concept and more about sensation. Skin becomes light, curves turn into shadows, and what lingers is the atmosphere of presence. I’m fascinated by the way bodies can tell stories without words — stories of vulnerability, defiance, desire, and self-possession.
Sensuality is a constant thread in my art, but it’s not solely about seduction. It’s about awareness — the way we exist within our own skin. In this, I find echoes of my own experience. The duality of my background, the mix of cultures and identities, has taught me to see beauty in contrast. Softness and strength, intimacy and distance, freedom and restraint — these opposing forces meet on paper, blending like pigment in water.
Through my paintings, I hope to evoke a sense of recognition — not just of the figures I create, but of the emotions they carry. If my work stirs something in you, makes you pause or wonder, then I believe we’ve already shared something meaningful.

As a self-taught artist, I have been honing my craft for years. My passion for watercolor art started with wanting to express the world around me in my own unique way.
